6. USA: California State Championship
Despite the threats of wild fires the inaugural California State Championship went ahead on Sunday October
21 in Northridge, California. Six players came from three counties to participate.
The State Championship Trophy was won by the pre-tournament favorite Wayne
Smith, who beat Simon Hutchinson in the final. Edward Nathan and Kevin Nieman shared third place after Third Place play off game ended in a draw.
The Missions Trophy final ended goalless and went to a shoot out in which Adam Carlson beat Dominic Hutchinson.
Dominic Hutchinson exacted revenge upon Adam Carlson in the final of the under-18 Sierras Trophy beating him in regulation time.

7. USA: Maricopa Cup
There were six draws out of fifteen games in the Ninth round of the Maricopa Cup on Sunday 7 October.
Wayne Smith's dominance in the Maricopa Cup continued as he won all five of his games, and only conceded one goal.
The next three players were only separated by one point. Kevin Nieman took second with eleven points. Simon Hutchinson and Edward Nathan both had ten points,
but Hutchinson took third place by his superior goal difference.
Simon's son Dominic took fifth place with three draws and only two losses. One of those losses was a defeat at the hand of Smith by only one goal, which was
Smith's smallest margin of victory.
Even though Adam Carlson finished in last place his goalkeeping and defending techniques frustrated his opponents. All agree that he is showing rapid improvement
in his skills and tactical awareness.
