Western States Open Trophy
The Western States Open trophy

This year's tournament combines the Western States Open (WSO) with the first Federation International Sports Table Football tournament held in California.

The WSO is the Major tournament for the American Subbuteo Association's Western region.  The most wins is shared by the Southern California Subbuteo Club's Wayne Smith and Lenny Foster of the Boise Unemployed Subbuteo League, who have both won it three times.

The SCSC is both excited and honored that is also a FISTF tournament.  This is the first time there has been a FISTF tournament in California, and it is a Satellite tournament, the highest type of tournament that can be organized by a club and one of two allowed in the USA for the 2009-10 season.  For the event to be accepted by FISTF there must be at least six players taking part.
