Notes

The first player is the "home" player, the second player was the "away" player and had to use the small Subbuteo or Zeugo style goalkeeper.

Fri Jun 25: Red Star 1 v Inventus 0 (HT 1-0)

Goals
First half
1-0  9:45  Red Star.

Pitch :  Mawra, Porter Ranch

Comments:

Inventus coach Kevin Nieman:  Simon scored a nice goal from my right flank.  I had a few good, long flicks, and I stopped a series of corner kick opportunities by Simon.  Not a sad match, but a loss all the same.

Red Star coach Simon Hutchinson:  Although it seemed like a close game the Reds goalkeeper only made one save.  The Reds goal came midway through the first half.  A move up the Reds' left, a push over the shooting line, and a medium length flick for a shot that rolled into the goal at the far post.  A good win for the Reds as it keeps them in the race for second place.

Pitch :  Fast Pitch, Porter Ranch

Comments:

Valley Irons coach Jason Mitchell:  A disastrous game and my shocking form continues.  A real bad end to the season.

Wayner Bremen coach Wayne Smith:  Jason had one superb play, pushing through my defense and hitting the ball off the post.  Other than that, he didn't do much.

Valley Irons v Inventus

Goals
First half
0-1  5:49  Inventus.
Second half
0-2  6:28  Inventus.

Pitch :  Mawra, Porter Ranch

Comments:

Inventus coach Kevin Nieman:  Best match I've played in eons.  Jason seemed to give up after my second goal probably disappointed him.  Always good to play Jason, win or lose.

Valley Irons coach Jason Mitchell:  A disaster again.  I am so off form.  Kevin took his goals really well and defended well.  I hit the post twice with weak shots.

Fri Jun 25: Left Hannover the Table 96 1 v Red Star 0 (HT 0-0)

Left Hannover the Table 96 v Red Star

Goals
First half
0-0  0:00  Team.

Pitch :  Fast Pitch, Porter Ranch

Comments:

Left Hannover the Table 96 coach Wayne Smith:  Reds held me to two chances.  I missed one shot badly, but the other I tucked neatly into the corner with under two minutes left.  Other than that neither of us had great chances.

Red Star coach Simon Hutchinson:  The Reds had chances throughout the game, but the shots were too weak and easy for the Lefts' goalkeeper to save.  I think the Reds had most of the possession and shots on goal, and restricted the Lefts to only two shots.  The uneven surface of the pitch was a factor.  The Lefts knew how the ball would roll, the Reds did not and many times the ball rolled away from their figures at the crucial moment.  This is a critical result for the Lefts as it helps them challenge Simi City for the runners up spot.

Fri Jun 25: Valley Irons 0 v Red Star 4 (HT 0-0)

Goals
Second half
0-1  2:03  Red Star
0-2  2:59  Red Star
0-3  8:25  Red Star
0-4  9:39  Red Star - mercy rule enacted.

Pitch :  Mawra, Porter Ranch

Comments:

Red Star coach Simon Hutchinson:  The first half was very even.  The Reds had most of the possession but could not translate it into shots on goal.  The Irons looked the team more likely to score.  After the Reds scored their first goal, in the second half, the Irons pushed most of their figures into the Reds half, only leaving two or three in defense.  It made it easy for the Reds to counter attack, as once they won possession they could make a "route one" pass up the pitch into the Irons half.  As the Reds had the ball behind most of the Irons' figures they could take their time to get the ball into a good shooting position to score.

Valley Irons coach Jason Mitchell:  Another disaster, things can only get better.

Fri Jun 25: Left Hannover the Table 96 1 v Inter Nieman 0 (HT 0-0)

Goals
First half
1-0  7:38  Left Hannover the Table 96.

Pitch :  Fast Pitch, Porter Ranch

Comments:

Left Hannover the Table 96 coach Wayne Smith:  Another tight match.  Hannover's offense just barely good enough to squeeze out a win.  Their flicks are quite good, which is why they give up so few goals.

Inter Nieman coach Kevin Nieman:  I felt I did well.  But I am still not able to contain Wayne on a regular basis.  Even if he gives up possession, Wayne's touch is so good that you need to be ever vigilant for any weakness.  Alas, I did not exploit my few opportunities.

Fri Jun 25: Red Star 3 v Valley Irons 2 (HT 2-1)

Goals
First half
1-0  2:13  Red Star
2-0  5:42  Red Star
2-1  13:12  Valley Irons.
Second half
2-2  2:33  Valley Irons
3-2  6:18  Red Star.

Pitch :  Mawra, Porter Ranch

Comments:

Valley Irons coach Jason Mitchell:  A great match, I fought back from two down are having some good chances in the first half.  Second half was end to end but Simon nicked it with a great counter attack.

Red Star coach Simon Hutchinson:  Two great shots and goals for the Reds in the first half.  The Irons changed their tactics this game, they did not push most of their team forward leaving themselves short in defense.  This meant that the Reds could not "route one" the ball up the field and exploit the lack of the defense for another mercy rule win.  The Irons first goal was a great shot.  Their equalizer was gifted to them due to lack of concentration on the Reds behalf leading to a stranded goalkeeper.  Lots of possession and shots finally lead to the Reds winner.  Relieved to win this one as it is the Reds last game of the season.

Fri Jul 16: Inter Nieman 1 v Left Hannover the Table 96 0 (HT 1-0)

Goals
First half
1-0  13:45  Inter Nieman.

Pitch :  Pumpkin Patch, Maricopa, Simi Valley

Comments:

Left Hannover the Table 96 coach Wayne Smith:  It sucks that Kevin finally learned how to flick these figures against me.  He made at least four flicks from further than 18 inches with less than half a ball to hit.  I was totally outplayed but managed to hit a crossbar and post.

Inter Nieman coach Kevin Nieman:  I could hardly miss any flicks in this match and my goal was surprising as it was watching Wayne miss flicks that he makes in his sleep.  My goal was from the left, and amazingly, Wayne's keeper did not move.  Rare result, very happy to beat Wayne, but this will probably be my last win in a long time against Wayne.

Fri Jul 16: Inter Nieman 0 v Simi City 1 (HT 0-0)

Goals
Second half
0-1  1:58  Simi City.

Pitch :  Drey, Maricopa, Simi Valley

Comments:

Simi City coach Simon Hutchinson:  It was a close game, where Simi had most of the possession and offense, but they were frustrated by Inter's defense and their own faffing about.  Very glad to get the win, especially as Inter beat the Lefties in their last game.

Inter Nieman coach Kevin Nieman:  After defeating Wayne, I didn't follow up with a win against Simon, but I felt my flicks were good.  I just have not been able to find Simon's "number" this season.  Too bad.
