Notes
The first player is the "home" player, the second player was the "away" player and had to use the small Subbuteo or Zeugo style goalkeeper.
Fri Apr 2: Kumba 0 v Inventus 3 (HT 0-1)
Goals
First half
0-1 3:06 Inventus.
Second half
0-2 1:57 Inventus
0-3 12:55 Inventus.
Pitch : Drey, Maricopa, Simi Valley
Comments:
Inventus coach Kevin Nieman: I flicked well and for once I scored after shooting. But, in deference to Dom's rules, my goals were all down to luck.
Kumba coach Dominic Hutchinson: Definitely a bad game. I could not judge perspective. But fun the less.
Fri Apr 2: Simi City 1 v Left Hannover the Table 96 1 (HT 0-0)
Goals
Second half
0-1 12:08 Left Hannover the Table 96
1-1 14:03 Simi City.
Pitch : Pumpkin Patch, Maricopa, Simi Valley
Comments:
Left Hannover the Table 96 coach Wayne Smith: Ugly game. The last three minutes at least had some goals... same bad flicks, but they were on defense rather than offense.
Simi City coach Simon Hutchinson: Not a classic game, the first half was very poor. In the opening three minutes City got the ball into a dangerous shooting position, and then blasted it over the [cross] bar. The Lefties did the same just three minutes later. After going a goal down City came alive, pressed the Lefties defense, forced their way through to score an equalizer. City need to improve if they are going to be a contender of second place.
Fri Apr 2: Left Hannover the Table 96 2 v Inventus 2 (HT 1-1)
Goals
First half
1-0 4:34 Left Hannover the Table 96
1-1 10:52 Inventus.
Second half
1-2 3:18 Inventus
2-2 7:10 Left Hannover the Table 96.
Pitch : Pumpkin Patch, Maricopa, Simi Valley
Comments:
Inventus coach Kevin Nieman: Wow. What a game. Although Wayne was playing left-handed Wayne, a left-handed Wayne can still beat me regularly, here, I was able to mount an offense, and I would have won if not for an amazing goal by Wayne at an unbelievable angle.
Left Hannover the Table 96 coach Wayne Smith: I played better this game than the last. Kevin, though, played brilliantly. I was rather lucky to get the point. He had two shots straight off my [goal] post. It was also a fantastic game.
Fri Apr 2: Simi City 0 v Inventus 0
Goals
None.
Pitch : Pumpkin Patch, Maricopa, Simi Valley
Comments:
Simi City coach Simon Hutchinson: This was without a doubt City's worse game of the season. I feel fortunate that City did not lose this game. It is only due to some excellent goalkeeping that Inventus were denied a win, that they probably deserved. For the first half of the first half it was all Inventus, as City's defense was very poor. It was not until the tenth minute that City took the ball into the other half [of the pitch]. In the second half there was an improvement, but shooting was still poor. Midway through the second half it became apparent to me that this would end goalless. Feel fortunate not to have lost this game.
Inventus coach Kevin Nieman: Inventus had its best three matches of the season ending with this match against Simi City. Simon and I were locked in a very tense, back and forth battle, we both had our chances. I had an early run on offense with only two men back and failed to score. Good draw, but would have liked extra points [draw = 1 point, win = 3 points].
Fri Apr 9: Valley Irons 1 v Kumba 2 (HT 1-1)
Goals
First half
1-0 0:26 Valley Irons
1-1 8:33 Kumba.
Second half
1-2 5:17 Kumba.
Pitch : Mawra, Porter Ranch
Comments:
Kumba coach Dominic Hutchinson: Good game, think I've got my touch back. Jason did a good job defending which preventing me from about 75% of the shots.
Valley Irons coach Jason Mitchell: A great start with my "B" team, but poor defending cost me. Bad result.
Fri Apr 9: Wayner Bremen 2 v Simi City 0 (HT 1-0)
Goals
First half
1-0 13:20 Wayner Bremen.
Second half
2-0 12:44 Wayner Bremen
Pitch : Fast pitch, Porter Ranch
Comments:
Wayner Bremen coach Wayne Smith: While I wasn't threatened more than four or five times, my chances were very limited also. Most of my chances were from bad angles forced by good defensive flicks. Simon's small keeper cost him as a large one one would probably saved my first goal! That said, Simon's keeper made some very good saves.
Simi City coach Simon Hutchinson: Despite losing City played really well. They had plenty of possession and several shots, including one that hit the far post. Disappointed as, in my opinion, a 1-1 tie would have a been a fairer result.
Fri Apr 9: Inventus 2 v Valley Irons 1 (HT 1-0)
Goals
First half
1-0 8:49 Inventus.
Second half
1-1 5:05 Valley Irons
2-1 6:49 Inventus.
Pitch : Fast pitch, Porter Ranch
Comments:
Inventus coach Kevin Nieman: Bad luck for Jason and his "cereal bowl" bases. He really can keep control on those ancient bases. My flicks were good enough and my shots just good enough to get a win.
Valley Irons coach Jason Mitchell: Flick to click... I choose to lose.
Fri Apr 9: Wayner Bremen 5 v Kumba 1 (HT 3-0)
Goals
First half
1-0 2:52 Wayner Bremen
2-0 9:53 Wayner Bremen
3-0 12:33 Wayner Bremen.
Second half
3-1 3:27 Kumba
4-1 9:12 Wayner Bremen
5-1 10:37 Wayner Bremen - game stopped by mercy rule
Pitch : Fast pitch, Porter Ranch
Comments:
Wayner Bremen coach Wayne Smith: This was the most offensive Subbuteo Dom has ever played against me. Rather than just knocking the ball out of bounds every chance, he made passes to forwards who were in good offensive positions. Not only did he score, but he hit my post once and had a third shot wide.
Kumba coach Dominic Hutchinson: Decent game, but not a decent result. A moral victory! But lost none the less.
Fri Apr 9: Valley Irons 1 v Simi City 5 (HT 1-2)
Goals
First half
0-1 2:24 Simi City
0-2 5:56 Simi City
1-2 12:42 Valley Irons.
Second half
1-3 1:33 Simi City
1-4 10:41 Simi City
1-5 14:16 Simi City - game stopped by mercy rule
Pitch : Mawra, Porter Ranch
Comments:
Simi City coach Simon Hutchinson: The score line is a wee bit misleading, as in the second part of the first half the Irons kept pushing around the sides of City's defense. Their goal was deserved at that point of the game. After the third goal the Irons pushed everyone forward, so City could put a couple of unmarked players on the shooting line to do "route one" to for the other goals.
Valley Irons coach Jason Mitchell: Another defeat.
Fri Apr 9: Inventus 0 v Wayner Bremen 1 (HT 0-1)
Goals
First half
0-1 12:23 Wayner Bremen.
Pitch : Fast pitch, Porter Ranch
Comments:
Inventus coach Kevin Nieman: Wayner was very good, as usual, and it doesn't surprise me to lose. It was disappointing to lose my first match in five matches. I went four in a row without losing before this game. I never had a quality shot, so it was all defense for me. Way to go, home team.
Wayner Bremen coach Wayne Smith: Hmm... not a very exciting match. The best play ended up as a saved shot and corner kick. My keeper didn't make a save and Kevin's made three.
Fri Apr 9: Red Star 1 v Kumba 0 (HT 0-0)
Goals
First half
0-1 6:19 Red Star.
Pitch : Mawra, Porter Ranch
Comments:
Kumba coach Dominic Hutchinson: Nothing much to say. Everything was normal and nothing really stands out. Average game with horrible shots by me.
Red Star coach Simon Hutchinson: Despite lots of possession the Reds were unable to turn their shots into goals. Kumba's keeper came up big several times to keep it at just 1-0. I was fortunate the Kumba's strikers were misfiring as they had several opportunities to score.
Fri Apr 9: Hollywood Hammers 1 v Inter Nieman 1 (HT 1-0)
Goals
First half
1-0 10:16 Hollywood Hammers.
Second half
1-1 0:40 Inter Nieman
Pitch : Fast pitch, Porter Ranch
Comments:
Inter Nieman coach Kevin Nieman: After the poor way I had been playing with my Inter Nieman figures, it was nice to get in a goal against Jason's "A" team. I feel fortunate to have earned a draw. I felt the match was not as nervy as previous Inter Nieman matches because I put Jason's early goal behind me and just tried to focus on the next two or three flicks. Overall, it was a good match made even better because it was the last match of the night giving it a special tension since everyone was watching
