Notes

The first player is the "home" player, the second player was the "away" player and had to use the small Subbuteo or Zeugo style goalkeeper.

Fri Feb 19: Wayner Bremen 1 v Inventus 1 (HT 1-0)

Wayner Bremen v Inventus

Goals
First half
1-0  10:16  Wayner Bremen.
Second half
1-1  8:02  Inventus.

Pitch :  Drey, Maricopa, Simi Valley

Comments:

Wayner Bremen coach Wayne Smith:  Kevin played really well and I missed five shots in front of the goal.  Kevin's goal was terrific as he chipped my keeper from a bad angle.  If I don't improve my shooting I won't win any games.

Inventus coach Kevin Nieman:  I defended my pants off in this match.  My only goal was possibly the longest goal I've ever scored against Wayne.  After tying the match, it was all Wayne, and I am fortunate to come away with a draw.

Simi City v Wayner Bremen

Goals
First half
0-1  5:30  Wayner Bremen.
Second half
0-2  7:59  Wayner Bremen
0-3  9:47  Wayner Bremen
0-4  11:27  Wayner Bremen - "Mercy rule" enacted.

Pitch :  Pumpkin Patch, Maricopa, Simi Valley

Comments:

Simi City coach Simon Hutchinson:  A hard game for the first of the night.  Let's hope that the City do a whole lot better in their next game, as they were crushed in this one.  Rather humiliating to be the first team "Mercy ruled" this season.

Wayner Bremen coach Wayne Smith:  It wasn't fair.  Simon was playing under the influence of Vicodin.  While his flicking wasn't bad, he was a bit slow and didn't make great decisions.  I think the game should be replayed when Simon is back to normal.

Fri Feb 19: Hollywood Hammers 0 v Simi City 1 (HT 0-1)

Hollywood Hammers v Simi City

Goals
First half
0-1  12:52  Simi City.

Pitch :  Pumpkin Patch, Maricopa, Simi Valley

Comments:

Simi City coach Simon Hutchinson:  Not a classic game, rather disjointed, but at this stage of the season it is important to start winning games.  Feels good to get the first win of the season under the belt.  The game was very close.

Hollywood Hammers coach Jason Mitchell:  Very even, I hit the [cross] bar in the first half.  A draw woul have been a good result, but I conceded a soft goal.  Frustrating.

Fri Feb 19: Inter Nieman 0 v Simi City 2 (HT 0-1)

Goals
First half
0-1  7:28  Simi City.
Second half
0-2  13:35  Simi City.

Pitch :  Drey, Maricopa, Simi Valley

Comments:

Inter Nieman coach Kevin Nieman:  Good on Simon for defeating me despite being slightly banged up.  My game on the Hasbro Solids [bases] is woefully bad. Despite some nice flicks, Simon deserved this result.

Simi City coach Simon Hutchinson:  Another win ground out for the City.  A game that had plenty back and forth.  Inter had a lot of possession at the start of the second half, at one stage they had a string of corners that they could not capitalize upon.

Fri Feb 19: Wayner Bremen 3 v Hollywood Hammers 0 (HT 0-0)

Goals
Second half
1-0  5:05  Wayner Bremen
2-0  11:25  Wayner Bremen
3-0  13:27  Wayner Bremen.

Pitch :  Pumpkin Patch, Maricopa, Simi Valley

Comments:

Wayner Bremen coach Wayne Smith:  For 24 minutes Jason had me totally frustrated.  It took me about 20 minutes to finally get a great chance at goal and as I put my hand down I brushed one of Jason's figures.  I deserve an award for the "Best use of the F-word during a Subbuteo match".

Once I scored Jason had to bring out more than one attacker.  Once that happened I got a ton more chances.  As it was, Jason's skinny keeper made four terrific saves.

Hollywood Hammers coach Jason Mitchell:  I played for a point and thought I deserved one.  My defense and goalie were superb and I did create the odd chance.  I was frustrating Wayne, but once he scored it was all over.

Fri Mar 5: Hollywood Hammers 1 v Inter Nieman 0 (HT 0-0)

Goals
Second half
1-0  4:26  Hollywood Hammers.

Pitch :  Pumpkin Patch, Maricopa, Simi Valley

Comments:

Hollywood Hammers coach Jason Mitchell:  The most boring first half ever!  The second half was only marginally better and a draw would have been a fair result, but I was lucky to score and hold on for a victory.

Inter Nieman coach Kevin Nieman:  I concur with Jason's comment and the first half, if it had been filmed, I'd have had to destroy the film.  Jason had more offense, and I only had one quality chance.  Inter Nieman is going for a winless season.  Go Inter!

Goals
First half
0-1  3:25  Simi City
0-2  9:53  Simi City.

Pitch :  Drey, Maricopa, Simi Valley

Comments:

Kumba coach Dominic Hutchinson:  Bad first half, very bad.  Second half not so bad, but not good.  Appalled by my performance, really need to eat more regularly.

Simi City coach Simon Hutchinson:  The boys did good.  Another three points won, and it puts us closer to Kumba and second place.  The two first half goals were enough to do the "biz".

Fri Mar 5: Inventus 0 v Kumba 0

Goals
None.

Pitch :  Drey, Maricopa, Simi Valley

Comments:

Inventus coach Kevin Nieman:  Scintillating , mesmerizing match of unbelievable artistry.  In other words the mediocrity continues for Inventus.  Wide open play, a few chances, but nothing worth mentioning except Dominic did very well frustrating my offense.  Hope to play better soon!

Kumba coach Dominic Hutchinson:  Looks like the winning streak wore off, or at least taking a break.  Nobody really did anything astonishing, just played very mediocre... Just like MLS soccer.

Fri Mar 5: Simi City 1 v Hollywood Hammers 0 (HT 1-0)

Goals
First half
1-0  11:10  Simi City.

Pitch :  Pumpkin Patch, Maricopa, Simi Valley

Comments:

Hollywood Hammers coach Jason Mitchell:  I lost but deserved a draw, numerous chances in the second half.

Simi City coach Simon Hutchinson:  In the first half, after scoring the only goal, I had two more "easy" chances to score at the far post, which I flubbed.  At the end of the second half I was hanging on as Jason attacked in numbers and I was trying to plug the holes in my scattered defense.

Fri Mar 5: Inventus 0 v Simi City 0

Goals
None

Pitch :  Drey, Maricopa, Simi Valley

Comments:

Simi City coach Simon Hutchinson:  Boy, that was a close game.  Both teams missed many chances.  I think the City had the better of the first half, hitting the post three times.  Kevin must have given his team the "hairdryer treatment" at half time as his offense came alive and had the City's defense on their heels in the second [half].  I did get a few shots on goal in the second [half] but nothing serious.

Inventus coach Kevin Nieman:  Inventus' mediocre season continues and the manager is under suspicion of match fixing.  Reports of his imminent sacking are not exaggerated.  There will be changes and players will be flogged [evil cackle].

Fri Mar 5: Hollywood Hammers 1 v Kumba 1 (HT 1-1)

Goals
First half
0-1  4:05  Kumba
1-1  12:36  Hollywood Hammers.

Pitch :  Pumpkin Patch, Maricopa, Simi Valley

Comments:

Hollywood Hammers coach Jason Mitchell:  Unlucky to go one [goal] down.  But came back well and totally dominated the second half.  I really should have won.

Kumba coach Dominic Hutchinson:  His whole strategy in the second half was to push everyone forward.  This did not bode well for him because he was a little bit jumpy.
