Notes

The first player is the "home" player, the second player was the "away" player and had to use the small Subbuteo or Zeugo style goalkeeper.

Fri Feb 5: Kumba 1 v Inventus 0 (HT 1-0)

Goals
First half
1-0  2:56  Kumba.

Pitch :  Drey, Maricopa, Simi Valley

Comments:

Kumba coach Dominic Hutchinson:  This game was a nice refresher back into normal Subbuteo.  Winning wasn't bad either.  The tiny flicks needed in futsal really helped me with my defensive strategy.  Too bad Kevin was not on his game.

Inventus coach Kevin Nieman:  The debut of Inventus took many long hours of sweat and toil, and high hopes for an opening win on an away match were dashed by Kumba's fist half attack.  I am disappointed, but it's early days.  I'm not going to sack the manager yet.

Fri Feb 5: Left Hannover the Table 96 1 v Red Star 1 (HT 0-0)

Goals
Second half
1-0  0:25  Left Hannover the Table 96
1-1  4:37  Red Star.

Pitch :  Pumpkin Patch, Maricopa, Simi Valley

Comments:

Left Hannover the Table 96 coach Wayne Smith:  The first half was wonderfully attacking and open despite no shots on goal.  I had a chance 40 seconds in but missed wide [of the goal].  Later I hit a post and Simon missed wide, but still no shots on goal in the first half.  The second wasn't as flowing after I scored 25 seconds in.  Simon's defense got tighter and that really slowed me down.  After Simon's goal I don't think I had any good chances.  Simon's goal off the corner was excellent.

Read Star coach Simon Hutchinson:  A very close game with plenty of ebb and flow.  It was a midfield dual with most of the play between the shooting zones.  I can only recall one save by either goalkeeper.  The first Red Star goal of the season was from the right, and between the near post and the goalkeeper.    A good result for the new franchise, and a good start to the season.

Fri Feb 5: League Cup Round 1: Inter Nieman 2 v Red Star 4 (HT 0-0, FT 2-2, AET)

Goals
Second half
1-0  1:34  Inter Nieman
1-1  4:23  Red Star
1-2  7:39  Red Star
2-2  9:29  Inter Nieman.
Extra time
2-3  4:03  Red Star
2-4  9:56  Red Star.

Pitch :  Drey, Maricopa, Simi Valley

Comments:

Inter Nieman coach Kevin Nieman:  Very disappointed.  I did not acquire [my] touch throughout the match with these Hasbro solids [bases].  The only plus is that I'm out of the League Cup, if that's even a positive.

Red Star coach Simon Hutchinson:  It was the classic game of two halves.  Very even in the first half, and then it came alive in the second with the four goals.  I am disappointed to have conceded a late equalizer, but Inter deserved it as they had applied pressure for some time on the Reds' over stretched defense.  The same happened in the extra time.  The first five minutes were nervy, and then again a burst of goals in the last five minutes as the Reds dominated.  The Hammers better beware!  [Red Star play the Hollywood Hammers in the next round]

Fri Feb 5: Left Hannover the Table 96 0 v Kumba 0

Goals
None.

Pitch :  Pumpkin Patch, Maricopa, Simi Valley

Comments:

Left Hannover the Table 96 coach Wayne Smith:  Dominic played good defense and didn't even try to push players up.  My best chances were with 4:40, hit post, and shot wide with 30 seconds left.

Kumba coach Dominic Hutchinson:  Very intense game.  I am surprised I tied.  Phew...  At least this is a good start to the season, hopefully I will keep it up.

Fri Feb 5: Red Star 2 v Kumba 0 (HT 0-0)

Goals
Second half
1-0  0:50  Red Star
2-0  10:23  Red Star.

Pitch :  Drey, Maricopa, Simi Valley

Comments:

Red Star coach Simon Hutchinson:  Kumba played really well.  Rather than the usual ten players back in defense they pushed forward and tested Red Star on several occasions.  There was no way Kumba could have saved the first goal as it was a shot from the right that was ramped off a defender.  The second came as Kumba's defense played the ball onto one of the Reds' strikers on the edge of penalty area, and he made no mistake with his opportunity.  I have to say this is the enjoyable game I have played against Kumba.  If they play like this they may not win the wooden spoon this season.

Kumba coach Dominic Hutchinson:  Really not much more to say... Just I felt I played good in the first half, and horrible in the second.

Fri Feb 5: Inventus 0 v Left Hannover the Table 96 1 (HT 0-1)

Goals
First half
0-1  3:51  Left Hannover the Table 96

Pitch :  Pumpkin Patch, Maricopa, Simi Valley

Comments:

Inventus coach Kevin Nieman:  Zero for two with Inventus despite millions of (imaginary) dollars spend on physios, psychics, and other expensive wastrels.  I had one excellent chance that went astray.  Still not going to sack the manager.

Left Hannover the Table 96 coach Wayne Smith:  Not one of our better matches.  Both of us were missing easy flicks.  My goal was lucky.  I managed to chip the keeper from a fairly decent angle.

Fri Feb 12: Kumba 3 v Red Star 1 (HT 3-0)

Kumba v Red Star

Goals
First half
1-0  9:48  Kumba
2-0  12:13  Kumba
3-0  13:43  Kumba.
Second half
3-1  14:52  Red Star

Pitch :  Mawra, Porter Ranch

Comments:

Red Star coach Simon Hutchinson:  A very disappointing start to the night to have lost by such a margin.  The strikers could just not chip the ball and threaten the goalkeeper, all except one shot were along the ground and easy to save.  The only chip was a great shot into the top corner of the goal.  The game was won by a great first half performance by Kumba.

Kumba coach Dominic Hutchinson:  Definitely a good game.  I played exceedingly well, and I am shocked that I didn't "mercy rule" Simon.

Fri Feb 12: Inventus 1 v Wayner Bremen 3 (HT 0-1)

Inventus v Wayner Bremen

Goals
First half
0-1  5:13  Wayner Bremen.
Second half
0-2  3:45  Wayner Bremen
0-3  10:20  Wayner Bremen
1-3  12:35  Inventus.

Pitch :  Fast Pitch, Porter Ranch

Comments:

Wayner Bremen coach Wayne Smith:  Lots of lucky bounces.  Good match.  My flicks were excellent.

Inventus coach Kevin Nieman:  My keeper should be hobbled for being so lackadaisical in his attention span.  But in realiity, I gave up two goals on sheer stupidity by waiting for Wayne to shoot.  It was good that I scored, and my flicks were better than last week, but a loss is still a loss.

Fri Feb 12: Hollywood Hammers 1 v Red Star 3 (HT 1-1)

Goals
First half
1-0  10:27  Hollywood Hammers
1-1  13:05  Red Star.
Second half
1-2  6:22  Red Star
1-3  14:48  Red Star.

Pitch :  Mawra, Porter Ranch

Comments:

Hollywood Hammers coach Jason Mitchell:  Not a good result.  Fell apart after taking the lead and dominating the first half.

Red Star coach Simon Hutchinson:  To go a goal down was a difficult start to the game, following the defeat against Kumba.  Then the team showed good character to come back to equalize before half time.  We dominated the second half and deserved the second goal for all the pressure they applied on the Hammers' defense, causing a string of saves from their goalkeeper.  Perhaps the last goal scored with just a few seconds remaining was a bit cheeky, but it was deserved considering the amount of possession we had had.

Fri Feb 12: Inter Nieman 1 v Kumba 2 (HT 1-0)

Inter Nieman v Kumba

Goals
First half
1-0  10:40  Inter Nieman.
Second half
1-1  1:49  Kumba
1-2  8:18  Kumba.

Pitch :  Fast Pitch, Porter Ranch

Comments:

Kumba coach Dominic Hutchinson:  Gaining back victory was hard in this game.  Kevin played well with his bases and I underestimated my ability to adapt to the pitch.  I'm surprised it didn't end a tie.

Inventus coach Kevin Nieman:  Played well.  Lost focus due to matters not pertaining to the game.  Very disappointed that a non-game issue distracted me off my game.  This will not happen again.

Fri Feb 12: Red Star 0 v Wayner Bremen 2 (HT 0-2)

Red Star v Wayner Bremen

Goals
First half
0-1  6:40  Wayner Bremen
0-2  12:02  Wayner Bremen.

Pitch :  Mawra, Porter Ranch

Comments:

Red Star coach Simon Hutchinson:  We tried hard against the best team in the league, but we were just not good enough.  I thought we did well at the start and in the second half.  We had three decent shots at goal that beat the keeper, but they were narrowly wide of the [goal] post.  Even though we lost I am pleased with the performance of this new team.

0-1  10:29  Kumba.
Second half
0-2  5:38  Kumba.

Pitch :  Fast Pitch, Porter Ranch

Comments:

Kumba coach Dominic Hutchinson:  Jason played very well.  Although he did make a few mistakes which lost him the game.  But [it was] a pretty even match.

Hollywood Hammers coach Jason Mitchell:  Not playing this year so far is really affecting my game.  Very poor.

Second half
3-1  5:09  Wayner Bremen
4-1  8:59  Wayner Bremen.

Pitch :  Mawra, Porter Ranch

Comments:

Inventus coach Kevin Nieman:  Happy to score the goal, and happy that this was more pleasant despite my lack of defense.

Wayner Bremen coach Wayne Smith:  Lots of offense.  For the first five minutes I was in trouble.  Kevin had scored and was flicking very well.  I hadn't and wasn't.  Fortunately for me that changed.
