Notes

The first player is the "home" player, the second player was the "away" player and had to use the small Subbuteo or Zeugo style goalkeeper.

Fri Nov 6: Jason Mitchell 3 v Dominic Hutchinson 0 (HT 2-0)

Jason Mitchell 3 v Dominic Hutchinson 0

Goals
First half
1-0  9:40  Jason
2-0  13:45  Jason.
Second half
3-0  2:19  Jason.

Pitch :  Pumpkin Patch, Maricopa, Simi Valley

Comments:

Dominic:  Not so good of a game.  We had about 50/50 possession, but I could not get a shot on Jason.

Jason:  A change from last time I played Dominic, where last time was a hard fought match.  This week was one way traffic.  Dominic needs to concentrate on the game not on other things, then maybe he can get back to his best.  At least one of the three goals I scored was due to lack of concentration on Dominic's part.

Fri Nov 6: Wayne Smith 3 v Kevin Nieman 0 (HT 1-0)

Wayne Smith 3 v Kevin Nieman 0

Goals
First half
1-0  2:35  Wayne.
Second half
2-0  7:03  Wayne
Penalty  4:12  Kevin saves Wayne's penalty
3-0  13:42  Wayne.

Pitch :  Drey, Maricopa, Simi Valley

Comments:

Kevin:  Ridiculous match for me.  I had three, count 'em, T-H-R-E-E stranded keepers.  The first stranded keeper ended in a Wayne goal, but the third was a finger foul on me which was a penalty kick that my rodded keeper deftly saved.  But I could not stop the Wayne blitzkrieg.  Poor play for me.

Wayne:  Odd match,  The tilt of the pitch made the game very odd.  Kevin had a worse series of rolls than I.  It completely shut down his offense.  I started using shorter passes, which helped a bit.  I also lucked out getting a lucky, early goal which took a lot of the pressure off.

Fri Nov 6: Dominic Hutchinson 0 v Simon Hutchinson 3 (HT 0-0)

Goals
Second half
0-1  3:03  Simon
0-2  8:28  Simon
0-3  11:42  Simon.

Pitch :  Drey, Maricopa, Simi Valley

Comments:

Simon:  It was typical game that I have with Dominic.  I was nervous and my flicking went to pieces for the entire first half.  I had a string of corners but could not get any shots as he swamped my attack with his defense.  In the second half after I got my first goal I felt the pressure come off, I could relax and play better.  The third goal was a great one.  The ball was just off the corner of the six yard box and Dominic's keeper was about a quarter of inch away from it.  I managed to chip the ball over the waist of his SportsFigure goalkeeper and into the goal.  Dominic was amazed.  He kept asking me how did I do that, and was jokingly convinced that I must have somehow hit the ball through his keeper.

Dominic:  I could not flick to save my life... nothing really special.

Fri Nov 6: Jason Mitchell 1 v Kevin Nieman 1 (HT 0-0)

Goals
First half
1-0  12:39  Jason.
Second half
1-1  14:26  Kevin.

Pitch :  Pumpkin Patch, Maricopa, Simi Valley

Comments:

Kevin:  Jason's relentless play overwhelmed my defense enough to give him an early goal.  After much precision, and lots of great defense by Jason, in the last minute of the second half, I had a shot lined up and my intention was to chip the ball.  Luckily for me, I chipped it perfectly and secured the tie.  Tensely fought match.  I'm quite fortunate.

Jason:  I really needed to win this game to stand a good chance of third place.  I played one of my best games ever and with 34 seconds left I was one up, until Kevin score a wonder goal to claim a point.  Very disappointed.

Fri Nov 6: Jason Mitchell 2 v Wayne Smith 2 (HT 2-1)

Goals
First half
0-1  4:30  Wayne
1-1  10:20  Jason
2-1  11:35  Jason.
Second half
2-2  2:40  Wayne.

Pitch :  Pumpkin Patch, Maricopa, Simi Valley

Comments:

Wayne:  Wow!  What a game!  In the first half Jason made three incredible flicks near my shooting zone.  They results in a very waek shot that would have struck the keeper, had I just tried to pick up the keeper.  As it was, I pushed the handle down, popping the keeper up in the air.  This allowed the ball to roll slowly under the keeper and in.

In the second half I tried two wide open shots down the middle of the pitch, a few inches from the shooting line and both times the ball touched a figure, loosing possession.

Jason:  Another great game and I played well again.  I was lucky with my second [goal], but when playing Wayne you need all the luck you can get!  A great result.

Fri Nov 6: Simon Hutchinson 2 v Kevin Nieman 0 (HT 2-0)

Goals
First half
1-0  4:20  Simon
2-0  9:13  Simon.

Pitch :  Drey, Maricopa, Simi Valley

Comments:

Kevin:  On Simon's first goal, I was totally asleep, frozen keeper, agog at the rolling ball into my net.  My offense was erratic, partly due to a tilted pitch.  But Simon was able to compensate more than I could.  Another disappointing match.

Simon:  Not a classic game, but one I really had to win if I want to finish in second [place].  But at this stage of the season I need to just win, even if it isn't pretty.  I am surprise to have scored both of my goals, as I thought both of the shots were saveable.  A good three points and a step closer to the runners up position.

Fri Nov 13: Dominic Hutchinson 1 v Kevin Nieman 1 (HT 0-1)

Dominic Hutchinson 1 v Kevin Nieman 1

Goals
First half
0-1  7:42  Kevin.
Second half
1-1  14:48  Dominic.

Pitch :  Fast pitch, Porter Ranch

Comments:

Dominic:  I am very happy with my result.  The end score was surprising, but good none the less.  I was able to get within six inches of his goal, and chipped his goalie.  I am very happy.

Kevin:  I scored in the first half, but for some reason my play was very sloppy and I lost possession frequently.  I held onto the lead despite this fact, but fouled up badly in my own zone giving Dominic a clear shot that he did not miss.  Disappointed, but I have Dominic at home, so I'll try to do better.

Fri Nov 13: Kevin Nieman 2 v Dominic Hutchinson 0 (HT 0-0)

Goals
Second half
1-0  9:37  Kevin
2-0  14:59  Kevin.

Pitch :  Fast Pitch, Porter Ranch

Comments:

Kevin:  After defeatist play in my first match with Dominic, I was determined to ramp up my play.  My first goal was a quick goal where the ball bounced out of the net quickly.  Then, with second left, I had a throw-in in Dominic's end.  And with one second left, my shot rolled over Dominic's keeper's rod and in.  I'll take that result for tonight.

Dominic:  Really frustrated.  I really hope Jason wins all of his games.

Editor:  If Jason Mitchell wins his remaining games, and Kevin does not, then Jason will claim third place.

1-0  6:10  Wayne
2-0  8:01  Wayne
3-0  14:00  Wayne.
Second half
4-0  4:45  Wayne
5-0  9:38  Wayne
6-0  13:38  Wayne.

Pitch :  Drey, Maricopa, Simi Valley

Comments:

Dominic:  This game was disappointing to say the least.  My goalkeeper cost me two or three goals, because it kept falling out.  Mixed with Wayne that was a recipe for disaster.

Wayne:  I guess I did OK.

Fri Nov 20: Simon Hutchinson 2 v Jason Mitchell 0 (HT 1-0)

Simon Hutchinson 2 v Jason Mitchell 0

Goals
First half
1-0  8:25  Simon.
Second half
2-0  10:10  Simon.

Pitch :  Pumpkin Patch, Maricopa, Simi Valley

Comments:

Simon:  Another win, although I struggled at times to keep control and possession of the ball.  For all my possession I am a bit disappointed I did not score more goals.  My two goals were OK.  I think my second took Jason by surprise.  This result assures Kevin [Nieman] third, as Jason had to win this game to move above Kevin.

Jason:  Terrible game, a nonevent that finishes off the season on a bad note.

Fri Nov 20: Simon Hutchinson 5 v Dominic Hutchinson 0 (HT 2-0)

Simon Hutchinson 5 v Dominic Hutchinson 0

Goals
First half
1-0  2:36  Simon
2-0  7:40  Simon.
Second half
3-0  7:17  Simon
4-0  11:53  Simon
5-0  13:10  Simon
Penalty  14:13  Simon saved Dominic's penalty.

Pitch :  Pumpkin Patch, Maricopa, Simi Valley

Comments:

Dominic:  No real comment.  Not feeling well, probably effecting my play.

Simon:  Poor Dominic could not do anything right in the second half.  I was all over his defense.  For once he pushed forward, keeping players in my half.  It was from one of those pushes that I saved a weak shot and noticed that I had not removed by spare goalkeeper completely from the pitch, he was still on the touch line just to the right of the goal.  Penalty!  He did not hit his penalty hard enough, and I knew which side of the goal he was going to aim for, so the save was not that dramatic.  My season ended on a five game winning streak, I scored sixteen goals and did one concede a goal.  It made up for that sticky patch in September when I drew all of those games.

Fri Nov 20: League Cup final: Jason Mitchell 0 v Wayne Smith 2 (HT 0-0)

League Cup final: Jason Mitchell 0 v Wayne Smith 2

Goals
First half
0-1  3:50  Wayne.
Second half
0-2  14:44  Wayne.

Pitch :  Pumpkin Patch, Maricopa, Simi Valley

Comments:

Wayne:  Jason played well, but I did a good job bottling up his attack.  His best scoring chances came early.  After my goal he started attacking with more figures, but I managed good defensive flicks.

Jason:  I did well to get to the final, and was happy with the way I played.  I had one or two chances, but my final flick was poor.  I made three great saves in a good game.
