Notes
The first player is the "home" player, the second player was the "away" player and had to use the small Subbuteo or Zeugo style goalkeeper.
Fri Oct 23: Dominic Hutchinson 0 v Kevin Nieman 1 (HT 0-0)
Goals
Second half
0-1 1:30 Kevin.
Pitch : Fast pitch, Porter Ranch
Comments:
Dominic: Decent game, nothing special. It was a typical up and down game.
Kevin: I stole a valuable "away" win in front of the hostile Kumba [Dominic's team name] fans. My spectacular goal was actually helped by the Kumba '08 manager, Dominic. As Juventus [Kevin's team] lined up for a shot, lead strike Del Piero didn't think he had a good shot. Dominic, in a good bit of sportsmanship, walked on the pitch and instructed Del Piero that he had a very good angle. Thanking the Kumba manager, Del Piero lined up the shot, and he kicked it with such force that the ball sailed in the net and burst out the back netting. And in the words of Monty Python, "There was much rejoicing".
Fri Oct 23: Wayne Smith 2 v Jason Mitchell 0 (HT 1-0)
Goals
First half
1-0 12:15 Wayne.
Second half
2-0 6:10 Wayne.
Pitch : Mawra, Porter Ranch
Comments:
Jason: A real good game I had chances but my shooting was poor. Wayne scored two good goals, but it wasn't all one way traffic.
Wayne: The first eight minutes was very even. I was lucky to not give up too good a shot. Consistently we were both a good touch away from a good chance, but we just couldn't get the last touch.
Fri Oct 23: Jason Mitchell 0 v Simon Hutchinson 4 (HT 0-3)
Goals
First half
0-1 3:18 Simon
0-2 7:31 Simon
0-3 11:42 Simon.
Second half
0-4 9:17 Simon.
Pitch : Mawra, Porter Ranch
Comments:
Simon: A good game for the first of the night. I seem to be able to press through and around Jason's defense to get into shootable positions. He was unfortunate for the second goal as I ramped it off his defender and in [to the goal]. In the second half he pushed almost all of his figures forward, so I had to defend in numbers to keep a clean sheet. It changed the complexion of the game, and I was happy to be able to break, with a long ball, to get a fourth [goal].
Jason: Worst game I have ever played. The best thing that happened was the final whistle. Just like West Ham [the team Jason uses] I fade and die...
Fri Oct 23: Dominic Hutchinson 0 v Wayne Smith 3 (HT 0-2)
Goals
First half
0-1 3:30 Wayne
0-2 10:27 Wayne.
Second half
0-3 4:25 Wayne.
Pitch : Fast pitch, Porter Ranch
Comments:
Wayne: Dominic made the most amazing shot... He flicked a figure from near his own goal line, hit the ball, cutting it more than 45° on goal. My keeper was force to make the save.
Fri Oct 23: Wayne Smith 4 v Simon Hutchinson 1 (HT 2-0)
Goals
First half
1-0 2:33 Wayne
2-0 14:47 Wayne.
Second half
3-0 2:50 Wayne
3-1 8:51 Simon
4-1 12:30 Wayne.
Pitch : Mawra, Porter Ranch
Comments:
Simon: I may expect to lose an "away" game against Wayne, but I am disappointed to have lost by such a margin. It is hard to keep the game low scoring against Wayne when you have the small "away" goalkeeper, and on the Mawra, which being wider than the other pitches means you have to spread out your defense to cover the wings. I must say my goal was a good one, I took my time and blasted a chip from the right side over his keeper and into the top of the goal at the far side. At least I don't have to play him again this season, and can concentrate on winning my remaining games.
Wayne: I was very pleased to pick up the three points. There were some odd bounces, one of which set me up for a good goal. Other bounces weren't so kind for me, but another really messed up Simon.
Fri Oct 23: Kevin Nieman 1 v Jason Mitchell 1 (HT 1-0)
Goals
First half
1-0 9:06 Kevin.
Second half
1-1 3:10 Jason.
Pitch : Fast pitch, Porter Ranch
Comments:
Kevin: I scored first, enjoyed a half time lead, and Jason equalized while I was asleep at the keeper position. The rest of the game was a frantic effort on both sides to win, all for naught. Very disappointed to lose the win.
Jason: A very even game. Very happy to get a point on a very tough night.
Thu Oct 29: Wayne Smith 3 v Munir Merchant 0 (HT 0-0)
As Merchant resigned from the season before playing 50% of his fixtures this game is considered a Supplemental game.
Goals
Second half
1-0 2:15 Wayne
2-0 4:38 Wayne
3-0 12:27 Wayne.
Pitch : Mawra, Porter Ranch
Comments:
Munir: Good game. I was patient in the first half and played well defensively. Somehow I lost my patience in the second half, especially after the first goal was scored. Then it was more a free for all.
Wayne: The first half was very even. I had two goal chances and Munir had one. In the second half things really turned my way. I hit the post at 1:45 and his keeper made a big save at about the three minute mark. It was the corner after the save that I added my second goal. He missed two positional flicks badly, leaving two men open. My corner stopped right where I wanted and the shot was an easy one to score. It was end to end for the rest of the match as Munir pushed four to six players forward.
Thu Oct 29: Simon Hutchinson 2 v Munir Merchant 0 (HT 1-0)
As Merchant resigned from the season before playing 50% of his fixtures this game is considered a Supplemental game.
Goals
First half
1-0 2:46 Simon.
Second half
2-0 7:25 Simon.
Pitch : Mawra, Porter Ranch
Comments:
Simon: This game was not a classic. I lost concentration and track of the score for the second half of the first half and the first part of the second. After that I had to get back down to it to make sure I built up a lead he could not come back from, one goal was not enough. This late in the season I need to keep winning to keep the pressure on Kevin to do the same1.
Munir: The game was reasonable. I played decently but Simon had more chances, and had more attacking possession. I only had one good chance.
Note:
1 Simon has only five games left to play. Kevin has three games in hand and is seven points behind Simon.
