Season 8 ran from September to November 2009. Unlike the previous two seasons this season did not split into two groups after everyone had played each other twice. This season everyone played each other four times, twice at "home" and twice "away".
To give a "home field advantage" the "home" player would use the goalkeeper of their choice. The "away" player had to use one of the smaller Subbuteo/Zeugo goalkeepers.
Due to work and personal commitments Munir Merchant resigned after playing seven league games. The rules for the season meant that his record was expunged, all the points won from games with Merchant was removed from the other players.

Few were surprised that Wayne Smith finished the season as champion, but he did not have as an easy time as he has had in previous seasons. While his "home" record was perfect, "away" he suffered two defeats and a tie. Jason Mitchell earned the distinction of being the only player not to be beaten at "home" by Smith. After leading the table for the first three weeks, Simon Hutchinson's record of drawing one "away" games with every player, except Smith, cost him his shot at the championship. After losing first place to Smith, Simon held onto the runners up spot for the remainder of the season, and the only games he lost were the ones against the champion. The battle for third place went down to the last week of play. The third place contenders, Mitchell and Kevin Nieman, had both beaten Smith, but had dropped too many points in their "home" games to challenge for second place. Mitchell had to beat Simon in his last game to finish with one more point than Nieman, it was not to be as he was beaten and finished with two points less than Nieman. Dominic Hutchinson showed patches of good play, and tied one of his "home" games with his father, Nieman, and Mitchell. But his inconsistency cost him, and he won the wooden spoon for the second consecutive season.
This season's League Cup was a single game elimination tournament. With only six players taking part this season Dominic and Nieman received byes to the semi finals. Both of the first round ties went to extra time. Mitchell beat Simon with an extra time goal. Smith eventually bested Munir Merchant in a shoot out, after a goalless game. The semi finals went to form with Smith defeating Nieman, and Mitchell victorious over Dominic. The final was the last game of the season and was played in front of the largest number of spectators of any games this season. Smith defeated Mitchell by two goals, one early in the first half and the other with just seconds remaining in the game. Both players commented how close the game was.
