Supplemental games are friendly games played during Season 7.

Friday February 20

Kevin Nieman 1 v Munir Merchant 0 (HT 1-0)

Goals
First half
1-0  14:00 Kevin

Munir:  I felt that the first half was sporadic.  The second half was pretty well played.  I was robbed by two shots on goal, particularly the one that hit the right post, along the goal line, under Kevin's keeper, hit the left goal post, and out.  The second half was much better, I think.

Kevin:  It was a spotty first half except for my goal.  Which was a quick shot after a nice setup through the shooting line.  The second half was more erratic on offense and Munir has more chances.  We had no corners in the match.  It was rather relaxed play.

Friday March 6

Simon Hutchinson 1 v Jason Mitchell 0 (HT 1-0)

Goals
First half
1-0  7:42  Simon

Jason:  I thought I was unlucky and deserved a draw.  The shot I had in the second half deserved a goal and Simon was lucky with the save.

Simon:  After my goal the game tended to peter out a bit.  Jason is right his shot was a cracking one.  I barely had hold of the goalkeeper's rod and managed to trap the ball between the keeper and the goal post.

Friday March 13

Wayne Smith 1 v Simon Hutchinson 0 (HT 0-0)

Goals
Second half
1-0  10:18  Wayne.

Wayne:  A really, really tough defensive game.  I thought the gaps in Simon's defense were too wide, but every time I got close to exploit one he would flick a figure to block [the gap].

Simon:  I played a heck of a lot better than my previous game against Dominic earlier [for a report see here].  It could be the pitch.

Friday March 20

Simon Hutchinson 2 v Adam Carlson 0 (HT 1-0)

Goals
First half
1-0  0:34  Simon.
Second half
1-0  7:49  Simon.

Adam:  It was not the best game I have had, but it was a warm up.  But Simon did play well.

Simon:  Why could I not play like that two weeks ago [when Adam beat Simon in a league game].

Simon Hutchinson 2 v Jason Mitchell 0 (HT 1-0)

Goals
First half
1-0  10:31  Simon.
Second half
2-0  12:49  Simon.

Jason:  I am lots better than I was two weeks ago when I was very rusty.  I wish the league was starting now.

Simon:  It was a lot closer that the score line suggests.  Jason forced me to make a couple of saves.  In the opening minutes of the first half I had a shot at goal that he got his keeper to but did not stop.  As it sneaked past the keeper it struck that figure that had made the shot that was on the goal line and bounced out to strike one of his defender.

The first goal I had to get my finger into a tight angle.  The second was after Jason struck the ball when it wasn't his possession.  The ball rolled rolled into a perfect position for me to shoot at goal.  I declined the "back", shot and scored.

Friday April 3

Simon Hutchinson 1 v Munir Merchant 0 (HT 1-0)

Goals
First half
1-0  2:55  Simon.

Munir:  I threw up as many [figures] as I could and could not score.  A few more shots, not great shots, but they were shots.

Simon:  I played a lot better than I did against Steve.  Goal was a chip over the goalkeeper from the right.

Wayne Smith 4 v Jason Mitchell 1 (HT 3-1)

Goals
First half
0-1  1:30  Jason
1-1  5:45  Wayne
2-1  10:25  Wayne
3-1  14:06 Wayne.
Second half
4-1  8:25  Wayne.

Wayne used the smaller "away" goalkeeper.

Jason:  I let Wayne win again.

In all honesty I played very well.  I scored an early goal and thought I was going to go on and win.  But Wayne upped his game and pulled the victory out of the hat.

Wayne:  Jason scored really early.  I adjusted to the pitch really quickly, before Jason's goal and shot accurately.

Simon Hutchinson 4 v Jason Mitchell 0 (HT 3-0)

Goals
First half
1-0  11:14  Simon
2-0  12:38  Simon
3-0  14:59  Simon.
Second half
4-0  8:35  Simon.

Simon:  After my first goal Jason pushed all of his team forward.  The other goals were scored from long balls from defense to the one or two strikers to shoot.

The third goal stranded his goalkeeper leaving me with the ball dead center of the goal.

The fourth he dragged the ball into his goal with his goalkeeper from a low shot to the near post.

Jason:  I held Simon for the first five to six minutes then went out all attack and succumbed to a huge defeat again.

Friday April 10

Wayne Smith 8 v Steve Tucker 1 (HT 4-1)

Goals
First half
1-0  1:25 Wayne
2-0  3:35  Wayne
3-0  8:40  Wayne
4-0  10:05  Wayne
4-1  11:13  Steve.
Second half
5-1  0:30  Wayne
1:30 Steve replaced his fixed goalkeeper with his spare
6-1  2:20  Wayne
7-1  9:48  Wayne
8-1  11:31  Wayne
11:50 Steve replaced his fixed goalkeeper with his spare.

Pitch:  Fast pitch, Porter Ranch

Steve:  [Laughs] I was very disappointed my [spare] goalie didn't score.

Wayne:  I was very pleased to shut out Steve's keeper and the eight goal weren't bad either.  I also hit four posts.

Steve always experiments during friendlies.  I don't think he will try any of this game's tactics again.

The lightening fast pitch really helped my offense.  I made what seemed like ten flicks from my shooting line to his.

Wayne Smith 1 v Steve Tucker 1 (HT 1-0)

Goals
First half
1-0  2:00  Wayne.
Second half
1-1 9:38  Steve.

Pitch:  Mawra, Porter Ranch

Wayne:  Rather more open than the last game.  Steve played way better.  It's a bit of a let-down after scoring five goals in the first 15:30 of the last game.

It was funny that Steve played about 13 minutes without a keeper last game and game his keeper came out, played the ball, got an unlucky bounce that gave me the ball.  It was two flicks later that I scored my only goal.

Steve:  Just trying something different.  I have a failure to make defensive flicks sometimes... quite a bit, actually.

Friday April 17

Simon Hutchinson 1 v Munir Merchant 0 (HT 0-0)

Goals
Second half
1-0  13:40  Simon

Pitch :  Rookery, Maricopa, Simi Valley

Munir:  Pretty good [game], more interesting and open than usual.  More shots, a good game with flow up and down [the pitch].

Simon:  It was a midfield game with playing flow between the two defensive lines.  A well taken shot and goal was what made the difference.

Wayne Smith 2 v Simon Hutchinson 1 (HT 2-0)

Goals
First half
1-0  10:36  Wayne
2-0  13:17  Wayne.
Second half
2-1 9:21  Simon.

Pitch :  Rookery, Maricopa, Simi Valley

Wayne:  Uh, uh, I scored two goals and gave up one.

Simon:  Wayne ran up 2-0 and I fought back.  After my goal I felt I had most of the shots.  He made two good saves to deny me an equalizer.

Friday April 24

Simon Hutchinson 0 v Jason Mitchell 0 (HT 0-0)

Jason:  Not sure how I didn't lose.  I created two good chances and my goalkeeper was in top form for once.

Simon:  I cannot believe the number of times I struck the post.  Jason's goalkeeping was excellent.  I have to say I was very frustrated with my goal and his goalkeeping.

Wayne Smith 3 v Munir Merchant 0 (HT 0-0)

Goals
Second half
0:22  1-0  Wayne
2:52  2-0  Wayne
10:47  3-0 Wayne.

Munir:  A decent game.  Wayne had a couple of surprise shots.  It was not as bad as the score suggests.

Wayne:  3-0 was not a fair indication of the fairly even play.  I got over the giant [home] goalkeeper, I have not scored many goals against them.

Friday May 15

Simon Hutchinson 1 v Jason Mitchell 1 (HT 0-1)

Goals
First half
9:40  1-0  Simon.
Second half
12:43  1-1 Jason.

Simon:  I squandered too many chances after I scored my goal.  I think Jason made six or seven good saves, I struck the post twice, and missed too many flicks.

Jason:  It was good, one of my best games I have played against Simon.  It rounded off my best night of Subbuteo for a long time, four games undefeated.

Friday May 22

Simon Hutchinson 1 v Kevin Nieman 1 (HT 1-0)

Goals
First half
14:35  1-0  Simon.
Second half
9:29  1-1  Kevin.

Kevin:  The first half was horrible.  My flicking had no rhythm and I was fortunate to keep it scoreless until the end of the half.  I felt better in the second [half] and my only goal came after the longest series of corner kicks.  Simon's defensive flicks were excellent, the best I have seen in a long time.

Simon:  I had the better of the game in the first half.  I am sure I had more shots on goal that required a save in the game.  Lots of long passes to strikers, and frustrated by Kevin's defensive blocking flicks.  All in all a fair result.

Simon Hutchinson 1 v Kevin Nieman 0 (HT 0-0)

Goals
Second half
3:17  1-0  Simon.

Kevin:  Another ugly goal conceded by me.

Simon:  My shot struck the post, ran up the post, then along Kevin's goalkeeper's rod into the goal...

Kevin:  The ball caressed the rod ever so lovingly..

Simon:  And rolled into the goal.  I had lots of offense but need to practice small flicks to keep possession.

Kevin:  Simon's goal defied the laws of physics somehow.  I swear it looked as if the ball was momentarily stuck to my keeper, like a caterpillar crawling on a leaf.  I felt my flicks were mediocre, offense mediocre, and I believe out of the three games this evening Simon and I played Simon bested me overall.  [Report of first game here]

Friday June 5

Simon Hutchinson 1 v Jason Mitchell 0 (HT 0-0)

Goals
Second half
0:58  1-0  Simon.

Jason:  No comments.

Simon:  It was a slow game.  I needed the practice to be ready to play Wayne in the League Cup final later tonight.  I'll need to play a lot better than I did in this game of I am going to win the cup.  I did have a fair number of shots on goal, but they were either at Jason's goalkeeper or an easy save for him.  My only decent shot was my goal.

Jason Mitchell 1 v Kevin Nieman 0 (HT 1-0)

Goals
First half
11:53  1-0  Jason.

Jason:  One of the best games I have played.  I could control the ball and keep possession for long periods.  My shooting way better than in my last game.

Kevin:  This is the best I have ever seen Jason play.  He completely dominated the match like I have seen him do.  Just in the first five minutes I had to save two quality shots.  At half time I felt that without those saves it would have been 3-0 not 1-0.  I had some chances but none were really quality because Jason stymied me.  Very fun despite being completely dominated.
