Weekend Subbuteo (Wed Mar 10)
It is a busy weekend for the Southern California Subbuteo Club, with two events.
On Friday night Season 9 continues with Match Day 5. Wayne Smith is our host at his home in Porter Ranch, action starts at 7:00 PM. We will be performing the draw for the following day's tournament.
On Saturday we will be returning to Porter Ranch for the 2010 Western States Open, which is also a FISTF Satellite tournament. This is the first FISTF tournament held in California. Play will start at 11:00 AM, and the participants are asked to arrive a few minutes early so that the first games can start at 11.
Wanted: Subbuteo across America logos (Tue Mar 9)
On February 17 we made a post on the American Subbuteo Association's forum requesting logos for the "Subbuteo across America". To date we have received just one logo, from Rory Miller in western Kentucky, it is the image to the right of this story. We would like to thank Rory for his work.
If anyone else would like to submit a logo for this event please do so. Do note that the eligible area for participants is USA and Canada.
All submissions should be emailed to Simon Hutchinson. If you do not know his email address then use the Contact page and he will reply with his address.

Flick-Talk update (Mon Mar 8)

single match after four weeks of matches. This blog will be my attempt to dissect why I am playing so poorly...
Minnesota joins in (Sun Mar 7)
The Minnesota Subbuteo League becomes the 17th club or individual in the USA to sign for "Subbuteo across America". We thank them for doing so.
We now have players and/or clubs participating in 14 states in the USA, three provinces in Canada, and our twins in England and Switzerland.
Even if you live in a state with a club that has already signed up you can still participate as an individual or as a separate club. And those of you living in states that do not have individuals who are participating now is your chance to join in this worthy event.

Season 9 Match Day 4 (Fri Mar 5)
Match Day 4 of the Southern California Subbuteo Club's Season 9 was a low scoring affair with six goals scored in six games.
Half of the goals were scored in the first round of games as Simon Hutchinson's Simi City defeated Dominic Hutchinson's Kumba, and Jason Mitchell's Hollywood Hammers bested Kevin Nieman's Inter Nieman.
The only other win of the night came in the next round when Simi City defeated the Hammers by a single goal. The remaining three games all finished tied. Kevin's Inventus fought out goalless draws with Kumba and Simi City. The Hammers came back from a goal down to tie with Kumba.
The top two teams in the league table remain unchanged, Wayne Smith's Wayner Bremen is first with a five point lead over Kumba. Simi City move up one place to third, and are just a point behind Kumba and with a game in hand. The Hammers move up two places to share fourth with Simon's Red Star. Wayne's Left Hannover the Table 96 drop one place to sixth. The bottom three are unchanged. Inventus now has a three point lead over Inter Nieman and Jason's Valley Irons.
IMSL signs on (Thu Mar 4)
The Inter-Mountain Subbuteo League, from the Tri-cities area of south eastern Washington state, becomes the latest club to sign up for "Subbuteo across America". We thank them for joining this event.
The American Subbuteo Association's Western region has the most states with participants, four.

Pumpkin Patch (Sun Feb 28)
Continuing our occasional series featuring the pitches used by the Southern California Subbuteo Club you can now learn about the the newest pitch at the Hutchinson's home, the Pumpkin Patch.

Subbuteo across America update (Fri Feb 26)
Two more Subbuteo clubs have signed on to take part in "Subbuteo across America", which will be played on Saturday May 22.
To date 14 Subbuteo clubs and six people have signed up to take part in this charitable event. We would like to thank all of them for doing so.
